Entertainment in Adelaide

Like any other major Australian metropolis, Adelaide offers rich entertainment to tourists and locals alike and has an active nightlife.

The most popular bars in Adelaide are The Highway in Plympton, Tequila Rea and Rocket Bar in Hindley Street, The Tap Inn in Kent Town, The Oxford Hotel and The Crown & Sceptre Hotel in King William Street. There are other numerous bars like Aural Elixir, Eclectric, Future Fez etc. for people wishing to wet their throats, Adelaide has an array of watering holes that cater to all and sundry.

Though it’s one of the more laidback big cities in Australia, nightlife in Adelaide is as bustling as the others and entertainment is no holds barred. The best nightclubs are in Prince Albert Hotel, Colonel Light Hotel, Electric Light Hotel, SKYCITY Casino, Comix Comedy Cellar Restaurant, The Cavern Club, The Archer Hotel, The Bank Wine Bar, The Hampshire Hotel Restaurant, The Weimar Room and Rob Roy Hotel. Among other popular nightclubs are London Tavern, Mansions Tavern, Marrakesh Bar & Bistro and Shotz Nightclub & Pool Hall, to name a few. Almost all these nightclubs have live music playing and DJ nights that dish out more than foot tapping music.

On the night of 12th December 1995, casinos finally came to Adelaide, with the opening of Adelaide Casino. Since 2000, it came to be known as SKYCITY, owned by the SKYCITY Entertainment Group and is located in the Adelaide railway station. It has the facility of 70 gaming tables and 950 gaming machines. It’s the most happening gaming and casino spot in the city. The other smaller casinos are operated at Port Dock Brewery Hotel and The Sailmaster Tavern.

Entertainment has no limit in Adelaide and it is a great place for nightlife connoisseurs.
